My First Post

One year from now, I plan to depart from the United States and embark on a journey to Ljubljana, Slovenia. Now, I'm sure this is making many of you ask questions. Why would someone want to go to Ljubljana? Why are you going to Ljubljana? Where in the world IS Ljubljana? And most importantly, Ljubi-WHAT?

These are all great questions. Ljubiana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. Slovenia, which was the first country to spilt from Yugoslavia, is a tiny country of about 2,000,000 residents nestled between Croatia, Italy, Austria, and Hungary. As one of the most westernized Balkan nations, Slovenia (Not to be confused with Slovakia) is a member of both the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) During my stay in Ljubliana, I will be attending the University of Ljubliana, which happens to be one of the largest and most competetive Universities in Europe. I will be studying abroad there as a student at Baylor University. Although taking classes there on a Baylor study abroad program, this is not a group trip, I will be going alone (so I sure hope lots of people there speak English!)

Ljubliana is a centrally located city. It is less than 250 miles from Vienna, less than 100 from Zagreb, and less than 300 from Budapest.

Right now, I'm focusing on planning my trip and figuring out how to upgrade to first class without having to pay (literally) $3000 extra. I will be updating every few weeks with information about Ljubljana. Once I depart the United States, I will make 1-2 entries per day that give detialed information about the area.
